My Morning Routine 2021 (Online Business Owner)

Welcome back to my channel. In today’s video, I thought I would do one of those “morning routine” videos. I know that these kind of get made fun of, but personally I love watching them, so I thought I’d create my own.

About Me

A few quick things you need to know about me, before we dive in. I’m originally from Canada but I now live full-time in Panama. I’ve been running my online business for quite a few years now, where I teach entrepreneurs how to leverage tech to grow their online businesses. I’m 30 years old, and I live here with my fiancé, Nathan, and little pup Charlie.

Waking Up Early

Ok, let’s dive into my morning routine. First things first, I wake up at 6:15am, with the best view ever and cute little Charlie waiting for me to get up. We recently moved into this apartment and I am obsessed with it. You can walk straight out of the bedroom and around to catch the sunrise. I love waking up early. I was waking up at 5am for a long time. I liked it and it was great because the days did feel really long, but I decided that I prefer to wake up once it starts to get light out, rather than waking up in the darkness. Even at 6:15am, the days still feel really long.

If you are struggling to wake up early, my advice for you is to focus on the evening before and just try to focus on getting to sleep earlier and earlier, before even worrying about the morning.

I wake up, wash my face, and change into shorts because we will go to the beach. Then, it’s coffee time. If you do follow me on Instagram, you know that I can’t go a day without coffee. I get this ready and make sure that when we get back from our morning walk, the coffee is ready for us.

Morning Walk

So, it’s time for Charlie’s morning walk. Honestly, getting a dog has been really positive for my well-being. I spend more time outside than ever before, and I find his presence really comforting. We walk down to the beach and we let Charlie run free, and he has the best time. After we get home, it’s time to feed Charlie and grab a cup of coffee.

Reading Time

Next, I head to the couch and spend ten minutes reading. In general, it’s always a book about business or personal development. Right now, I’m reading The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. This allows me to feel grounded and reconnects me to my goals right in the morning. Having a simple morning routine like this has actually allowed me to get through quite a few books. I used to have a few other components in my routine - meditation and stretching - but I’ve since let them go. When my morning routine felt like it was too long, it wasn’t working for me. That being said, I feel like this is kind of an excuse because it would only add fifteen minutes to do both of those things, so I’m thinking I should add them back in.

Planning My Day With Asana

After my reading is complete, I grab my laptop and open up Asana. Asana is a project management tool that has literally changed my life and made me so much more organized and more productive than ever before. I plan out all my projects ahead of time, then I focus on the My Task tab in the morning and decide the order that I’m going to tackle my tasks. In general, I’ll do the hardest task first to get it out of the way, and then make the rest of my day feel more in-flow.

Get to Work

After I’ve planned out my day and the specific times that I’m going to do each task, I get up, have a shower and get dressed for the day. I have two specific days in my business – I have “on camera” and “off camera”. If it’s an “off camera” day, I put on some comfy pants, a t-shirt and I don’t do any make-up at all. If there is anything I need to film, I will get dressed for that and then do my make-up. This is my office. In it, I have a vanity with all of my make-up, which is so convenient, so I’ll sit here, do all my make-up and then once that’s done, it’s time to sit down and get to work.

So, that’s my current morning routine. I hope that this video was interesting for you – if you liked it, please let me know by giving it a thumbs up. Comment down below and let me know what’s included in your morning routine - I would love to hear about it. If you haven’t subscribed yet, make sure to do so. I talk all about productivity, marketing and growing an online business.
