Introduction: Simplifying Your YouTube Presence

Today, I wanted to share how I'm simplifying showing up on YouTube. Some of these are really small things, while others are larger mindset shifts. I hope these strategies can be incorporated into your content plans as well.

Create a Video Bank

The first thing I'm doing is creating a bank of videos. If there's a week or two where I can't film anything, I still have videos ready to go. This has significantly reduced the stress of creating videos because I know I have a backlog ready.

Fix Small Stressors

The next small thing is getting my hair professionally blow-dried before I film videos. Previously, doing my hair myself would result in it looking terrible and flat, and it would ruin after just one walk. Now that I've been getting it done professionally, it lasts so long that I can film multiple days without worrying about styling it myself. If there’s any little thing that's part of the filming process causing you unnecessary stress and could be easily fixed, do it!

Permanent Filming Setup

I keep my filming setup ready to go at all times. This includes my camera, mic, sound, and lights, all set up in my office. This minimizes resistance and gives me no excuses not to film. Consider any part of the process that brings up resistance for you and see if you can adjust your environment to support you.

Using Asana for Organization

I use Asana to organize all the tasks involved in creating a video, from outlining to publishing and sharing. I have a task template in Asana for YouTube videos. When I decide to create a new video, I just click on this template, and it automatically creates a new task with all the subtasks I need. This ensures I never miss anything and don’t have to store all this information in my brain.

I keep all the necessary links within the Asana task. For example, I have the link to upload the final video to Google Drive and the link to the Canva template for creating YouTube thumbnails, making the process way more efficient and streamlined.

Repurposing Content Across Platforms

When I post a YouTube video, I also share it as a reel, a story, and an email. This ensures that I distribute the content in various formats, maximizing its reach.

Using Descript for Quick Editing

The next tool that has made showing up on YouTube much easier is Descript. It speeds up the editing process by automatically generating a transcript of everything I say in the video. Instead of watching the video back to make cuts, I can read the transcript, delete what I don’t want, and Descript automatically cuts it from the video. This tool also allows me to easily add graphics, text, and stock footage.

Repurposing Content for Blogs

Descript also helps me repurpose my YouTube videos into blog posts. It automatically generates a transcript which I then format into a blog post using ChatGPT, simplifying and speeding up the process significantly.

Mindset Shift

I’ve also had to adopt a mindset shift: I view each video not as needing to be the most unique or creative work but as a part of my larger body of work. This approach reduces pressure and contributes significantly to my content strategy.

Thank you for being here and supporting my channel. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments down below, and I'll see you soon with another video. Bye!
