5 Ways to Make Money from Your Website

Money, Money, Money!

Money makes the world go ‘round and if you have a website you are sitting on a paycheck!

Today I want to share with you five ways that you can make money from your website, including the way that I recommend you start out with if you are a beginner.

If you're new here, hi, I'm Louise from Louise Henry. I post new videos every single week, all about tech and entrepreneurship. So if you want to start and grow an online business, definitely hit subscribe.

Let's talk about the different ways you can make money from your website.

1. Sell one-on-one services

This is the way that I recommend you start out with because it is the easiest of all of them. The reason being is because you do not need a huge audience to start making money from your services.

With one-on-one offers, you only have limited spots to fill and because they're working with you one-on-one, it is higher ticket so you can earn more per client as well.

There are a ton of different services that you can offer. Basically anything that you think you could offer as a job in the real world, you can take and turn into an online business. Thanks to technology such as Zoom, which allows us to host video calls, you can also connect with clients from all over the world.

So super exciting opportunity here! A few examples that come to mind are coaching, consulting, and freelancing.

2. Sell digital products

Once you have some experience working one-on-one with people, you can package up your methods into a product.

This can take a lot of different forms. For example, you can create an ebook, you could sell any tools that you've created such as checklists or templates, and you could also create an online course. That’s the route that I took and I am so glad I did!

I created an online course which allows me to package up my simple method for creating a website and open that up to a ton of different people from all over the world.

Now, with this method of making money from your website, you do need to have more of an audience, so you have to be doing something that builds your audience such as sharing videos on YouTube.

For your online course, I recommend that you either use Squarespace or Teachable. I did a video comparison on these two recently and you can click here to watch it.

3. Become an affiliate for your favorite products and share affiliate links on your website.

If you've never heard of affiliate marketing before, basically what it is is a referral commission.

What I recommend that you do is for any product that you're already using, loving and recommending, you go and see if that company has an affiliate program.

If they do, then simply by sharing the personalized link that they've given you, you're going to earn a commission for every single person that goes on to purchase from them through that link. So this is a really great and easy way to earn more money from your website, especially if you're sharing content on a regular basis.

This is an especially easy way (once you’ve put in the groundwork) to make money and it definitely feels passive. However, for this you have to have enough people who are clicking on your link. So again, building an audience is going to come into play.

4. Sponsored posts

This is when a company or brand will pay you a flat fee to review their product.

This is definitely what I would consider a supplementary income source. I wouldn't rely on it, but as you build your audience, you are going to start getting pitched sponsored post and over time the fee that you charge for these can become quite substantial.

5. Traditional ads.

This is a question I get a lot - can you run Google Adsense on your Squarespace website?

You totally can. However, I don't think it is the most effective method. Doing this is going to require that you have a ton of traffic and you're only going to earn a few cents per click.

Instead, I recommend that you focus your efforts on the previous four methods and that you start out with one-to-one services or creating your own products and that the basis of your business be your one-to-one service or own products and then some supplementary income from affiliate income and sponsored posts.

So those are five ways that you can make money from your website. Now I would love to hear from you - which method are you going to be implementing in your business?
